Redekop, MD, CCFP, FRCPC, Chief Occupational Medical Officer, Workplace Division of Manitoba Department of Labour and Immigration. You must pre-register with Workplace Safety and Health Division. There is no cost to attend this session. 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Between the Ears: Behavior and Compliance Safety professionals can face significant challenges sometimes while striving to protect employees' hearing. Complex noise environments, variable activities, the constraints of the job, communication needs, as well as other safety equipment can impact our efforts to provide effective hearing loss prevention. But sometimes it seems like the biggest hurdle can be the employees themselves. This workshop will discuss some of the phychological factors that can cause people to neglect their long-term hearing health. What elements of human nature affect our decisions, and how we can use this information to shape employee priorities and behaviors.
